The MacMurray College Archives
holds the historic and permanent records of the Illinois Woman's College and MacMurray College. The records of the college consist of personal papers of the college presidents; minutes of the board of trustees meetings; student publications; photographs; scrapbooks; a newspaper clipping file and much more. College Greetings was originally published by the alumnae for the jubilee celebration in 1899. It became a quarterly magazine written and published by the students to highlight their literary achievements and activities on campus and as a means to keep connected with the alumnae. In 1929 the magazine became a weekly or bi-monthly newspaper published solely for the students. The College yearbook, Illiwoco, began in 1914 and was published yearly except for 1915 and 1919. Until 1938, the junior class published the yearbooks for the senior class. The date embossed on the cover is one year later than the actual yearbook publishing date. In 1961, the Illiwoco was renamed the Tartan because the first graduating class of men chose the Highlander as the school mascot in honor of Senator James MacMurray, the college's namesake.
